And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
(Luke 1:46-49 NIV)
(In a departure from the norm, I will be doing brief Advent scripture quotes throughout this week leading up to Christmas. My regular Psalms devotional posts will resume on December 26th.)
I’m sure this thought is not new to you but I’ll say it anyway. Although not in the Book of Psalms one could say that Mary’s song is a classic Psalm as is the song of Zechariah. They both fit the model very well. I love Luke 1. Thanks for sharing.
That’s a very fitting observation. The psalms aren’t all contained in the Book of Psalms. Luke 1 is filled with the Holy Spirit at work.
