Bible, birds, God, Heavenly Father, Jesus, overcoming worry, Prayer, Psalms, shelter, the LORD

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.

Reading: Psalm 91:1-8

LORD God,

you are my shelter in a stormy world.
I am so safe—
so very safe—
when I am with you.
I want to live each day
in the confidence you care for me
as a loving Father cares for His dear child.

Amen.

— — —

“Therefore I tell you,
do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink;
or about your body,
what you will wear.
Is not life more than food,
and the body more than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap
or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?

Can any one of you
by worrying add a single hour to your life?
(Matthew 6:25-27)*

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 19_12-14

Reading: Psalm 19:12-14

Heavenly Father,
please forgive my sins.
Often, I have lived according to my will,
not yours.
Forgive my selfish ways.
May these words of my mouth
and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
L
ORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Amen.

“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you,
your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

But if you do not forgive others their sins,
your Father will not forgive your sins.

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 7_10a

Reading: Psalm 7:10-17

Heavenly Father,
today show me how I can build others up
instead of tearing them down.
I want to be more like you,
Lord Jesus.
You came to lift others.
In my interactions today,
help me do the same.

Amen.

— — —

Do not repay anyone evil for evil.
Be careful to do what is right
in the eyes of everyone.

If it is possible,
as far as it depends on you,
live at peace with everyone.

Do not take revenge,
my dear friends,
but leave room for God’s wrath,
for it is written:
“It is mine to avenge;
I will repay,”
says the Lord.

On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty,
give him something to drink.

In doing this,
you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil,
but overcome evil with good.

(Romans 12:17-21), NIV)*
