Reading: Psalm 68:7-10

When you, God, went out before your people,
    when you marched through the wilderness,
the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain,
    before God, the One of Sinai,
    before God, the God of Israel.
You gave abundant showers, O God;
    you refreshed your weary inheritance.
Your people settled in it,
    and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor. *

Reading: Psalm 49:1-12

LORD God,
I thank you for the victory of Jesus!

My sheep listen to my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life,
and they shall never perish;
no one will snatch them out of my hand.
My Father,
who has given them to me,
is greater than all;
no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
I and the Father are one.”

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 48_14

Reading: Psalm 48:9-14

LORD God,
reign in me.
Establish your capital in my heart.
Govern my ways, now and forever more.
I commit my thoughts
and intellect to your service.
Stir my heart and my affections
to love you and others.
Amen.

“Teacher,
which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your mind.’
This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets hang
on these two commandments.”
(Matthew 22:3-8), NIV)*

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 48_1-9 Where does God dwell -365

Reading: Psalm 48:1-8

LORD God,
I thank you because you live within us!
Help me to let my light shine
in my city or community,
whether it is large or small, urban or rural.
Reveal your presence here among us
in your church and this community.
Amen.

— — —

 Don’t you know
that you yourselves are God’s temple
and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
If anyone destroys God’s temple,
God will destroy that person;
for God’s temple is sacred,
and you together are that temple.

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 47_6-7

Reading: Psalm 47

LORD God,
I thank you for the victory of Jesus!
He is my forerunner.
Help me to live and reign
through Him in my life
today and forever.
Amen.

— — —

For what I received I passed on to you
as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures,
that he was buried,
that he was raised on the third day
according to the Scriptures,
and that he appeared to Cephas,
and then to the Twelve.
After that,
he appeared to more than five hundred
of the brothers and sisters at the same time,
most of whom are still living,
though some have fallen asleep.
Then he appeared to James,
then to all the apostles,
and last of all he appeared to me also,
as to one abnormally born.
(1 Corinthians 15:3-8), NIV)*

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 46_10

Reading: Psalm 46:8-11

LORD God,
alter me at the foot of the cross.
I need you to change my heart,
my life, my attitude.
Help me be still before you
as I contemplate your love—
love I don’t deserve—
love that I have not earned.
But Jesus, you offered yourself freely.
Thank you.
Amen.

— — —

This is what the Sovereign LORD,
the Holy One of Israel, says:

“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
    in quietness and trust is your strength,
    but you would have none of it.

You said,
‘No, we will flee on horses.’
    Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
    Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
(Isaiah 30:15-16), NIV)*

Be Glad and Rejoice before God

I will praise the LORD!

PXL_20241021_151211306

Photo by David Kitz

Reading: Psalm 68:1-6

For the director of music. Of David.
A psalm. A song.

May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
    may his foes flee before him.
May you blow them away like smoke—
    as wax melts before the fire,
    may the wicked perish before God.
But may the righteous be glad
    and rejoice before God;
    may they be happy and joyful.
Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
    extol him who rides on the clouds;
    rejoice before him—his name is the LORD.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
    is God in his holy dwelling.
God sets the lonely in families,
    he leads out the prisoners with singing;
    but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. *

I will praise the LORD!
beacfd30a932bc0a5192413786d2451bb

Reading: Psalm 67

For the director of music. With stringed instruments.
A psalm. A song.

May God be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face shine on us—
so that your ways may be known on earth,
    your salvation among all nations.
May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you rule the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations of the earth.
May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.
The land yields its harvest;
    God, our God, blesses us.
May God bless us still,
    so that all the ends of the earth will fear him. *
