David Kitz writes with a heart that wants to worship God, and he invites us all to join in through his writings. His daily reflections on the Psalms are practical and make you want to love our God and Savior more.

Jimmy Li, Pastor & blogger for Veritas Domain

For more than twenty years David Kitz has been my friend, colleague, and fellow member in a weekly men’s fellowship group. He has always demonstrated his passion to know and make manifest God’s Word in his life, to draw close to the heart of his Father. In other words, he is a man after God’s own heart, which is so clearly evident in this new daily devotions book. I have had the distinct privilege of reading these devotions through David’s blog in preparation for this new publication. Each devotion will inspire and provide the reader with biblical insights and life applications, through a daily call to prayer, worship, obedience, thanksgiving, and meditation on God’s Word. May this book help to strengthen, heal, and encourage all who read it!

I’m not certain I’d be alive without the Psalms. While my wife was losing her family to Huntington’s disease we lived in its inspiring pages. We still do. David’s devotional is a welcome companion on this journey, particularly for those needing a fresh shot of hope.

I will praise the LORD!

Reading: Psalm 68:32-35

Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth,
    sing praise to the Lord,
to him who rides across the highest heavens,
the ancient heavens,
    who thunders with mighty voice.
Proclaim the power of God,
    whose majesty is over Israel,
whose power is in the heavens.
You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary;
the God of Israel gives power
and strength to his people.
Praise be to God! *

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 55_6-8

Reading: Psalm 55:1-8

LORD God,
 help me remember
I have a friend in Jesus.
I can bring my troubles, sorrows,
and losses to Him.
I offer you my thanks, Lord.
You hear me when I call.
You are my shelter from the storm.
Amen.

— — —

“Therefore everyone who hears
these words of mine
and puts them into practice
is like a wise man
who built his house on the rock.
The rain came down,
the streams rose,
and the winds blew
and beat against that house;
yet it did not fall,
because it had its foundation on the rock.
But everyone who hears these words of mine
and does not put them into practice
is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
 The rain came down,
the streams rose,
and the winds blew
and beat against that house,
and it fell with a great crash.”

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 54_4

Reading: Psalm 54

LORD God,
help me to know the battle belongs to you,
and you are the ultimate victor.
My trust is in you, Jesus.
I need not prove I am right.
You will have the final say.
Amen.

— — —

Vindicate me, my God,
    and plead my cause
    against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me from those who are
    deceitful and wicked.
You are God my stronghold.
    Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?
Send me your light and your faithful care,
    let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell.
Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the lyre,
    O God, my God.
(Psalms 43:1-4)*

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 52_9

Reading: Psalm 52

LORD God,
help me to always put my trust
in your unfailing love.
You are my help and refuge
in the storms of life.
Bring me through difficult days
by your grace.
Amen.

— — —

Through many dangers, toils and snares
We have already come.
T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far
And Grace, it will lead us home.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we first begun.

T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far
And Grace will lead us home
(Lead us home)
And Grace will lead us home.

God uses vessels in his hands to touch us exactly where and when we need it most. In our own experience, David’s daily insights from Psalms have been great. Not just in an educational sense, though that too, but his devotions touch us right where we need it. And often, it’s a word we can then share with a friend in need in a timely manner. Online and now in book form, both are a blessing!

The main body parts for reading the Bible aren’t the eyes and brain; it’s the hands and feet. This theme is woven throughout Psalms 365. As it should be! The focus on living the Word, or as James puts it, “doing it” (James 1:25) is what makes this study in the Psalms top-notch.

Low Rez PsalmsVol2SEAlOver the years the Psalms have become a great source of hope. David Kitz’s devotions are a great accompaniment to them. I find his writing both insightful and uplifting.

Godly Sorrow Brings Repentance

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 51_1

Reading: Psalm 51:1-9

LORD God,
I want to be like David—
quick to acknowledge my sin and repent.
Grant me a soft heart—
a sensitive heart—
a repentant heart
in Jesus’ name.
Amen.

— — —

I am happy,
not because you were made sorry,
but because your sorrow led you to repentance.
For you became sorrowful as God intended
and so were not harmed in any way by us.
Godly sorrow brings repentance
that leads to salvation
and leaves no regret,
but worldly sorrow brings death.
(2 Corinthians 7:9-10), (NIV)*

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 50_23

Reading: Psalm 50:16-23

LORD God,
let me never forget your great love for me.
I want to take you with me
today and every day wherever I go.
Jesus,
I am thankful for the promise of your presence.
Amen.

— — —

For this very reason,
make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge;
and to knowledge, self-control;
and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, godliness;
 and to godliness, mutual affection;
and to mutual affection, love.
For if you possess these qualities
in increasing measure,
they will keep you from being ineffective
and unproductive in your knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But whoever does not have them
is nearsighted and blind,
forgetting that they have been cleansed
from their past sins.
(1 Peter 1:5-9), NIV)*

Reading: Psalm 50:7-15

LORD God,

Every day is a gift from your hand.
Thank you, Lord Jesus.
Amen.

For since the creation of the world
His invisible attributes are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even His eternal power and Godhead,
so that they are without excuse,
because, although they knew God,
they did not glorify Him as God,
nor were thankful,
but became futile in their thoughts,
and their foolish hearts were darkened

Today’s quote and prayer from
“Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer”
by David Kitz.Psalm 48_14

Reading: Psalm 49:13-20

LORD God,
I thank you that Jesus,
my Redeemer, lives!
I put my trust in you, Jesus,
now and for eternity.
I rest in the hope
that a new day will dawn
when the dead in Christ will rise
and I and all who love His appearing
will reign with Him forever.
Amen.

“Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead,
    or engraved in rock forever!
I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed,
    yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see him
with my own eyes—I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
