A Journey to the Cross

The words of Paul, the apostle, ring true:
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18, NIV).

If Paul’s words are true then we as eager pilgrims should routinely journey to the cross. Why? Because there we are saved. There the mercy and grace of God flowed down. Love flowed blood red for you and me. At the cross we are changed by the power of God. Sin loses it’s grip on us. Forgiveness breaks chains and we are set free.

Let’s take that journey to the cross.

I will praise the LORD!

Psalm 20-1

Reading: Psalm 34:15-18

The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
    and his ears are attentive to their cry;
but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
    to blot out their name from the earth.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
    he delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit. *
