Last night I was surprised to see Psalms 365: Volume II is ranked number one in new releases in the genre of Christian Old Testament Meditations. Granted the field is not large, but when I last checked on Amazon.com my book ranked ahead of nine others in the category. 

First place—I’ll take it with gratitude and not complain—narrow field or not.

If you routinely follow this blog, you have a good idea what the devotions in this 266 page book look like. They are the in-print version of my weekday posts. Volume II covers Psalm 52 through Psalm 104. And yes, you guessed correctly. Volume I covers Psalm 1 to Psalm 51. Volume I was released in December, 2020. Volume III will be released in late summer, and will conclude the three-book series bringing us through to the final psalm, Psalm 150. The full series provides a Psalm reading and devotional for every day of the year. 

When do you want to start the series? Now is as good a time as any.

Connecting with God daily through the Psalms is a great way to allow the Good Shepherd to guide you to the center of his will.

What goes into making a great book cover? What makes a book appealing? I suppose authors and book publishers have pondered those questions for quite sometime.

One by one, Elk Lake Publishing developed covers for my new book. The first two were good, maybe even very good, but somehow they didn’t have that spark that called out, “I’m the one!”

But cover number three called my name. I can only hope it calls your name, and other reader’s names too.

With some slight modifications, this will become the cover of my newest book. Volumes two and three will follow in 2021.

One Book Becomes Three Books

In a recent discussion with the head of Elk Lake Publishing, we reached a decision to publish 385 Days through the Psalms as a three volume set. We are still on track to have the first book released this summer, with the second book coming in the fall, and the third volume in early 2021.

At the end of the editing process the manuscript totaled 735 pages. That makes for quite a hefty book. Moving to three volumes will result in books of a more manageable size. It also allows for multiple release dates and hopefully a growing readership with the release of each new book.

Sample CoverThe first volume will cover January through April, the second volume May through August, and the third volume September through December.   

Yes, the devotions in these books will be largely identical to my daily online posts. But let’s face it. Some people just like the look and feel of a book. In addition, you can’t underline or mark up an online post, but you are free to do just that with a book.

More information on 385 Days through the Psalms will be coming as the release approaches.

In the meantime, Psalms Alive! Connecting Heaven and Earth is still available on my website, and through other sources such as Amazon and Christianbook.com.
