365 Psalm 78_50-55

For nearly 3,000 years people have been getting in touch with God through the sacred literature of the Book of Psalms. Generation after generation has drawn strength, comfort and inspiration from the words of the psalmist.

Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer is a devotional study that takes you through all of the Book of Psalms during the course of a full year. The author’s goal is to help the reader interact with each psalm and connect with God in a fresh and living way.

There are 150 psalms in the Book of Psalms and one of the most remarkable things about them is their emotional span. They range from giddy heights of joy and praise to great depths of depression and sorrow. The full array of human emotion and experience is on display. Whatever state you find yourself in, there’s a psalm for that—a psalm for every situation and human need. If you are in desperate straits, there’s a psalm for that. If you are soaring in the presence of God, there’s a psalm for that too. The Psalms reflect our need for God and our desire to connect with Him in all of life’s experiences.Screen Shot 2021-04-09 at 11.01.08 AM (1)

In times of calamity the psalms bring peace. When storms rage within, a psalm can provide a haven of rest. When anger erupts, a psalm can act as a release valve. When God seems distant, the psalms bring us near.

There is something surprisingly practical about the psalms. They are meant to be lived. The Bible is in fact a living document that must be applied to life to be effective. This should not surprise us since, “The word of God is living and active” (Hebrews 4:12a). Author David Kitz draws from a range of biblical sources and real life experiences to make the psalms come alive.

There is power in the unchanging word of God. My prayer is that you will experience that power for yourself. May you discover Jesus, the Good Shepherd, walking off the pages of the psalms and into your life.

As never before, let the psalms come alive for you.

Volume II of Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer will be published this week. Watch this space for more details.

author, David Kitz, Psalms 365, publisher

As we approach mid April, I wish this headline read, “Psalms 385: Volume II, Available Now.” But alas, Volume II is still a work in progress. The manuscript has been in the publisher’s hands for several months now, but the queue is long. Screen Shot 2021-04-09 at 11.01.08 AM (1)

This past Sunday evening, round three of suggested edits landed in my inbox. By Tuesday afternoon my round three edits were complete and sent back to the publisher. Typesetting will follow, along with a thorough proofread.

As for the cover, it too is a work in progress. The cover photo on the right has been approved. But the final design for front and back won’t occur until next week.

There’ll be a good deal of back and forth between author and publisher in the days ahead, but the details will be ironed out, and a book will be available for purchase by the end of the month. At least that’s my reasonable expectation barring the unforeseen.

I’ll close by saying, “A prayer for success and Godspeed is always appreciated.”

Volume II of Psalms 365: Develop a Life of Worship and Prayer by award-winning author David Kitz will soon be available. For a closer look at Volume I click here.

David Kitz, novel, Roman, Roman centurion

What would it be like to live in the geopolitical center of the world during the first century, when donkeys and camels were the cars and trucks; conversations over a goblet of wine were the social media; and religious conflict influenced every facet of life? What would it be like to constantly live under the pagan political domination of Roman tyranny, while also enduring the oppressive ritualistic control of hypocritical religious bigots? What would it be like to live in the very week that this dark confused world was being invaded by heaven—a week when history would shift its time of reckoning from BC to AD?4485 SHARABLE-2

This gripping story, written by David Kitz, offers its readers a front row seat from where we can view the action. It’s a hidden camera on the helmet of a primary witness to this history altering drama, when the Sovereign of the Universe, quietly riding on a lowly donkey, overthrew the pomp and power of the most powerful empire this world has ever known. More than that, it’s a look into the mind and heart of a man, not unlike you or me, who was wrestling with the questions of the meaning and purpose of life.

As you read the thoughtful eyewitness account of The Soldier Who Killed a King, as told by Marcus the Roman centurion, you will feel his anxiety and anguish. And ultimately you too will exult in the answers he discovers, because—despite the time and cultural differences—his story is our story.

David Kitz, Easter, Jesus Christ, Lent, resurrection

An Amazon Review
I’ve read this book and enjoyed it. It is biblically accurate and any dramatization never went beyond the realm of reality and plausibility. The thorough research behind the writing is quite obvious.4485 SHARABLE-2

Kitz keeps a tight pace through the narrative and keeps it true to the spirit of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection without ever getting preachy.

I wished there were more books like this. It’s a historical fiction, for sure, but there was nothing within the fiction that would contradict what the Gospels in the Bible describe.

Best of all, the book is intended for general readership and not restricted to Christians. For anyone who would like to enjoy an immensely readable, dramatic, emotional, and accurate account of Easter and the time leading up to it, I highly recommend “The Soldier Who Killed a King.” For Christians, it’s a great read for Lent and Easter.                 — Fast Eddie

Ben Hur, centurion, David Kitz, Lent, Passion of Christ

With Lent fast approaching—it begins Wednesday, February 17th—why not plan a journey to the cross and the empty tomb?

There’s nothing quite like a good book to transport you to a different time and plaSoldier800kbce. For thousands of readers The Soldier Who Killed a King has been doing just that. It’s been bringing them directly to Jesus, the cross, and the empty tomb.

Here’s a five star Amazon review from Canada dated February 3rd, 2021:

A New, Yet So Familiar Story
It’s a story every Christian has heard many many times, but never quite like this! David Kitz does an impressive job capturing the historical events expressed in the biblical account of Jesus’ death, and re-presenting them from a new, relatable, and incredibly human perspective. Journeying with this Roman Centurion will lead readers to an intimate encounter with the passion of Jesus Christ.

And from JR in the USA,  January 15, 2021…

“The Soldier Who Killed a King” As Satisfying as Reading Ben Hur

I forgot who suggested this book. If I knew I would thank them. This historical novel is every bit as great as the book Ben Hur.

A free seven week study guide is also available for small groups or personal use.
